CT Scan

Computed Tomography or CT is used in veterinary medicine to diagnose several conditions that are not visible through other modalities such as ultrasound and MRI. CT scans thin slices of the body with a narrow x-ray beam which rotates around the body. This information is stored on a computer as digital data and displayed on a video monitor. CT scans can differentiate between tissues of similar density. Several conditions diagnosed through CT are fragmented medial coronoid process (FMCP) and osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) are common conditions of juvenile, medium to large-breed dogs. Other conditions include complex/articular fractures, patella luxation, spinal lesions, metastatic diseases and neoplasms, middle-ear disease, nasal cavity disease and much more.
