I live in Baltimore. My cat went on a misadventure and needed surgery. Due to the ALARMING shortage of Vets and Vet techs ( I urge everyone to Google and read about how bad it really is) I ended up driving an hour and a half to Frederick. They gave me an estimate of which I did pay in advance (and it wasn't cheap). Fortunately it wasn't as complicated as they thought and I was refunded some money. I eventually figured out the BEST way to communicate was by email. I sent pictures of Jack (the cat) in various stages of recovery and got responses back almost immediately. They worked seamlessly with Chewy getting meds as well. Trying to call was a different story. If you are placed on hold you might be there for a while. If your pet needs medical attention, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, keep in mind they are short of Docs and Techs. They many times have a terrible job, and many times get cursed instead of thanked. Most of the Pet ERs in the area are completely overwhelmed with pets needing medical attention. Unfortunately the cost of medial services any where you go is not cheap. If your pet needs emergency services, be prepared for sticker shock , but try also be patient and try to be kind to the staff. - read less

Care Veterinary Center is a very well run facility. Dr. Brenda Austin, DVM, MS Evaluated my 5 year old Labrador Retriever, Duke and confirmed my Vets diagnosis that he needed knee surgery. She answered all my questions and performed the TPLO surgery in a timely manner. Duke is progressing well 4 weeks post op. Care Veterinary Center is a very well run facility. Dr. Brenda Austin, DVM, MS Evaluated my 5 year old Labrador Retriever, Duke and confirmed my Vets diagnosis that he needed knee surgery. She answered all my questions and performed the TPLO surgery in a timely manner. Duke is progressing well 4 weeks post op. They are always available and answer all my questions and requests in a timely manner, and are very knowledgeable, and offer a wide range of services. Duke and I highly recommends this facility, Dr Austin and Staff. Katharine Fisher, and Duke Duke became lame in his left leg and had TPLO surgery on his left knee in May I am extremely grateful for Dr Austin's ability to do the surgery again on his left side and make him well. He has just been released from rehab and is walking beautiful. Linda Zito the Rehab Tech did a great job with Duke and was invaluable with all the support and information she provided during his recovery. I highly recommend Dr Austin's Rehab and the entire staff. - read less

They were backed up so could not take him as a patient, but sold the hospital where we were able to get him in the antivenin, when others with this scarce resource refused to either see him or sell the antivenin. Stayed open for us, made themselves available in case he needed a second dose in the middle of the night, they w… + read more

My old man corgi got smushed in the door by our running toddler by accident and our regular vet, old vet, and nearby vets were all full for a week, local pet ERs weren't open for hours, and further away ones don't take non-critical/stable cases. My dog is super stoic, but was panting, shaking, and avoiding stairs and hills--he needed some pain relief STAT. It did take a bit of a wait, but we were … + read more

It did take a bit of a wait, but we were in, out, and home before supper time for dogs--two hours before the emergency vet near us even opened. Our dog was having a very bad gastrointestinal flare up that was getting worse and worse so we took him here for the first time around 3am and were able to get our dog the help he needed. We were told what they thought the problem was and were not pressured into doing expensive tests they felt were unnecessary at the time, and were given s… + read more

We had a wonderful experience here on a very scary night! Our dog was having a very bad gastrointestinal flare up that was getting worse and worse so we took him here for the first time around 3am and were able to get our dog the help he needed. We were told what they thought the problem was and were not pressured into doing expensive tests they felt were unnecessary at the time, and were given some bland food, medication, probiotics, and instructions to help get our pup back on track. It worked wonders and after being on quite a regiment he was back to normal in just a few days. The only downside was that even though we were the only ones there, after we were brought back to the lobby we had to wait an awfully long time for the medication and whatnot to be filled. But overall we had a great experience and were grateful for the care they gave our boy! - read less

We ended up at Care Veterinary Center for an emergency visit October 2021. Our 5 year old dog was very sick and she ended up having to spend 10 days at Care Veterinary Center. They performed kidney and liver biopsies which were key to getting her diagnosis. The staff at Cares were great. We ended up at Care Veterinary Center for an emergency visit October 2021. Our 5 year old dog was very sick and she ended up having to spend 10 days at Care Veterinary Center. They performed kidney and liver biopsies which were key to getting her diagnosis. The staff at Cares were great. The veterinarian was absolutely incredible all the vet techs were super nice and the front desk staff was very helpful as well. All of our messages were promptly returned and we were allowed to visit with our dog every day. We had to put our almost 14 year-old dog down, and the people at CARE veterinary center were the kindest, most empathetic employees I have even seen. They told us we could spend as much time with her as we wanted and to call them in whenever we were ready for the procedure. We had to put our almost 14 year-old dog down, and the people at CARE veterinary center were the kindest, most empathetic employees I have even seen. They told us we could spend as much time with her as we wanted and to call them in whenever we were ready for the procedure. They made the experience as good as it can be when having to make the tough decision to put your beloved dog down. They also took her paw print and later sent us a very thoughtful sympathy card with personalized notes from each of the staff members. My family really appreciated this sentiment and we could definitely tell that this veterinary office truly cares about their furry patients and their families.
