Surgery Consultation

When you call to schedule an appointment with one of our board certified surgeons, you will be talking with one of our Client Care Coordinators. We will gather all of your information, and ask you for a synopsis of your concerns.

• The Client Care Coordinator will call your primary care veterinarian with your permission to obtain all pertinent medical records and previously performed diagnostic tests prior to your appointment.

Appointment times vary Monday through Friday and you can expect to be here for about an hour to an hour and a half
The surgeons do prefer that your pet come in fasted. This does not mean a surgical procedure will be done the same day, but just in case any x-rays need to be done, it is better that your pet is fasted.

• No food after midnight the night before
• Free choice water is OK

On the day of your appointment, please arrive 15 minutes early to complete paperwork. If it’s more convenient, you can fill out our form ahead of time by clicking here link to form. Please print a copy and bring with you to your appointment.

The doctor will review your primary veterinarian’s notes; examine your pet and discussing their recommendations for treatment with you. This will also include an estimate for anticipated costs associated with the proposed treatment.

• If pre-surgical x-rays or lab work are recommended, this can be facilitated during your appointment at CARE.If you pet is uncomfortable, light sedation may be required to obtain proper x-rays. This is very important to help us position your pet most accurately for the x-rays needed and to be sure your pet does not experience any pain. If sedation is required, the doctor will estimate how long this will take and then discuss with you.

Once you have consented to your treatment plan it is our policy at Care Veterinary Center to collect a deposit for the services.
